This would depend on if you wanted to get into actually raising the valley quail or not. If you are just wanting to have a certain amount of quail to release. It would be better to buy young adult, flight conditioned valley quail. I you actually wanted to get into raising these quail. You would need an incubator, brooder, grow out pens and a flight conditioning pen. This would be a little expensive and time consuming for a one time venture of raising quail.

So, I would like to raise some California quail to release in my area. We live in a wooded area with a field nearby and a creek. I simply think Califonia Quail are adorable and would like to see them running around our place from time to time. What would one need to do to have this successful? We live in Western Oregon with a fairly mild climate.

Well written article. All too many times good intending people adopt and raise wild animals to adulthood only to release them back into the wild to face conditions that they have not been prepared for, thereby insuring certain death to the animal. It would have been better off left alone to find its place in the food chain.
